A back to school newsletter for September...groundbreaking.
Hello RRC families!
We all hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for back to school.
We're very lucky to have two school counselors on our team, Christine and Marcie, and even luckier that they shared some back to school strategies for this month's newsletter.

We'll keep it nice and short so you can get back to enjoying the rest of your summer while simultaneously getting ready for a major schedule transiton!
A few tips for back to school:
- Establish a routine early: Start a school routine 2-3 weeks before classes begin. This makes the transition predictable and helps kids feel prepared.
- Avoid over-scheduling: Kids need time for rest and unstructured play. Over-scheduling them, especially during a major routine change, can be overwhelming.
- Normalize feelings: Acknowledge that it is normal to feel nervous. Remind them that they have successfully navigated change before and can do it again.
- Review expectations: Walk through (and even practice) what to expect, such as the morning schedule and the bus routine, the after school routine, remind them of supportive adults they have at school.
See you in September!
