Psychological Assessment
Therapy
Therapy services with children and adolescents typically involves multiple evidence based treatment modalities. At the Rochester Resiliency Center, we utilize cognitive (thinking), behavioral (action) and emotion-based treatment strategies, but always take a flexible approach. Parental involvement is critical to the treatment outcomes and is almost always a component of treatment. Specific treatment modalities vary based on the individual needs and goals of each client and family. In addition to treating common concerns of childhood such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and adjustment, there is also a significant focus on parenting and family based strategies as well as goals related to emotion regulation, executive functioning and resilience.
Psychological Testing
Psychological testing is a process that includes a combination of clinical interviews, completion of written questionnaires, and use of a variety of standardized measures in two or more one-on-one appointments with your child or adolescent. Psychological testing can help to gain a better understanding of your child's strength's and weaknesses, cognitive (IQ) and executive functioning, clinical diagnosis, areas that are in need of additional support or focus, and a understanding of social, emotional, behavioral or academic functioning.

Upon completion of the assessments, you will have a comprehensive evaluation with individualized recommendations.
Group Therapy
Group Therapy can be a helpful option for children and adolescents to learn new skills in a peer setting.

We currently offer a Social Skills group for boys ages 8-11. Social skills groups often focus on how to interact and engage with others their age. They can help kids learn conversational, friendship, and problem-solving skills.

A group focused on common stressors for early adolescent girls (middle school) is coming soon. Topics for this group will include: friendship, bullying, social media, and emotion regulation.
